This is a new style of post that will focus on telling a short story with maybe one or two photos attached. If this one goes well, they may become more common in the future. These posts are designed for people that want pictures and stories, but don't want to be overloaded with both. I hope you enjoy the maiden voyage!

On the evening of 8/13-the same day I visited the UO campus-I arrived at Alton Baker park to make myself some hot dogs for dinner, only to be surpirised by the sheer amount of cars that were entering and parking. I figured some kind of event was taking place in the park, but was determined to make my dinner before checking it out. About halfway through eating, loud music started playing and I was getting excited to go check it out. I finished up my meal, did the dishes, and walked in the direction that I had seen so many people going earlier. As I got closer I began to understand the music a little bit better. It was a rock music with a grungier vibe-not quite heavy metal, but not your normal 80's fair. I go to the entrance and asked the security guard what was playing. He was quite friendly and informed me that I had stumbled upon a "311" concert. He told me that you had to have tickets to enter, but that if I wanted to, I could chill just outside the venue and listen to the music. Feeling interested, I went and grabbed a towel and pillow from my car and returned to the area to listen.

Now to be clear, I'm actually not too familiar with 311's music, but one of my favorite songs is called "Amber" and they performed it near the end of the concert. After listening to their concert, I am definitely interested in exploring more of their music. I can safely say this was a really fun way to end the day. The photo pictured below was taken outside the venue. I tried to capture the vibe, but failed pretty badly. Haha!

Cool that you were in the right spot at the right time to catch some free music. I like that Amber song as well.
